The Story Behind the Shot

I'll be honest with y'all – I almost missed this whole meeting. Day three on Iceland's Ring Road, running behind, dodging rain. It's Iceland, so rain happens a lot. I was trying to check another spot off my list. I wanted to get to my "real" puffin spot on the eastern coast.

But sometimes the best adventures find you when you're not looking. I ran back to my rental Jeep in the rain. I swapped my 24-70mm for my 100-400mm lens. Then I found myself face-to-face with this adorable character. Other tourists snapped phone pics. This little guy stepped out from the plants. He looked straight at me with the most puzzled look.
