The Story Behind the Shot

After spending the morning taking photos of wolves with my group, we headed back to Old Faithful Snow Lodge. Our guide suggested a detour toward West Yellowstone. Wildlife had been spotted in the area recently. You know how hard it is to resist checking out a good tip. That's when we spotted him. This beautiful coyote was wandering down the snowy road. He was hunting for whatever he could find beneath the pristine white blanket.

What struck me most was how calm and patient he was. We found a safe place to pull off and watch from a distance. He just stood there with those piercing eyes clearly visible. The winter landscape was simple and beautiful. It was one of those moments that perfectly shows what makes Yellowstone special. Pure, wild nature in its most peaceful form. I shot this with my Sony A7RV at 276mm. This moment reminded me why these wild trips matter. It shows why places like Yellowstone call us to explore and protect them.
